Email Setup

Instructions for several popular email clients are listed below:

Windows : Outlook Express 5, Outlook Express 6, Outlook 2000

  1. Click on the "Tools" pull down menu
  2. Click on "Accounts"
  3. Highlight your e-mail account and click on the "Properties" button
  4. Click on the "Servers" tab
  5. Change "Incoming mail (POP3)" to "pop3.micro.com"
  6. Change "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" to "smtp.micro.com"
  7. Change "Account name" to "your_username"
  8. Leave "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" NOT CHECKED
  9. CHECK "My server requires authentication"
  10. Click on the "OK" button
  11. Click on the close window button

Windows : Outlook 2002, Outlook 2003

  1. Click on the "Tools" pull down menu
  2. Click on "E-mail Accounts"
  3. Check "View or change existing e-mail accounts"
  4. Click on the "Next" button
  5. Highlight your e-mail account and click on the "Change" button
  6. Change "Incoming mail (POP3)" to "pop3.micro.com"
  7. Change "Outgoing mail (SMTP)" to "smtp.micro.com"
  8. Change "User name" to "your_username"
  9. Leave "Log on using Secure Password Authentication" NOT CHECKED
  10. Click on the "More Settings" button
  11. Click on the "Outgoing Server" tab
  12. CHECK "My server requires authentication"
  13. CHECK "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
  14. Click on the "OK" button
  15. Click on the "Next" button
  16. Click on the "Finish" button

Windows : Eudora

  1. Click on the "Tools" pull down menu
  2. Click on "Options"
  3. Click on the "Checking Mail" icon
  4. Change "Username" to "your_username"
  5. Change "Mail Server" to "pop3.micro.com"
  6. Click on the "Sending Mail" icon
  7. Change "SMTP Server" to "smtp.micro.com"
  8. CHECK "Allow authorization"
  9. Click on the "OK" button

Windows : Incredimail

  1. Click on the pull-down menu "Tools"
  2. Click on the menu option "Accounts"
  3. Click on your email account to highlight it
  4. Click on the button "Properties"
  5. Click on the tab "Servers"
  6. Change Incoming Mail Server to "pop3.micro.com"
  7. Change Outgoing Mail Server to "smtp.micro.com"
  8. Change Username under Incoming Mail Server to "your_username"
  9. Check the option "My server requires authentication"
  10. Click the button "Settings"
  11. Check the box "Use same settings as my incoming mail server"
  12. Click the button "OK"
  13. Click the button "OK"

Macintosh : Outlook Express 5

  1. Click on the "Tools" pull down menu
  2. Click on "Accounts"
  3. Highlight your e-mail account and click on the "Edit" button
  4. Change "Account ID" to "your_username"
  5. Change "POP server" to "pop3.micro.com"
  6. Change "SMTP server" to "smtp.micro.com"
  7. Click on the "Click here for advanced sending options" button, found below the SMTP Server field. *
  8. Check the box "SMTP server requires authentication"
  9. Check the box "Use same settings as incoming mail server"
  10. Click on the small square close button in the upper left corner of the pop-up pane
  11. Click on the "OK" button
  12. Click on the close window button

NOTE: Some older versions of Outlook Express for Macintosh do not support SMTP Authentication. If you are running one of these versions, you will need to upgrade your email client before November 29th. Outlook Express version 5.0.6 supports SMTP Authentication, and we recommend upgrading to this. You can download it from Microsoft's website.

If you are running Mac OS 9 or later, Eudora is another free program that supports all the latest e-mail standards and is available at http://www.eudora.com/.

Macintosh : Entourage 2004

  1. Click on the "Tools" pull down menu
  2. Click on "Accounts"
  3. Highlight your e-mail account and click on the "Edit" button
  4. Change "POP server" to "pop3.micro.com"
  5. Change "SMTP server" to "smtp.micro.com"
  6. Change "Account ID" to "your_username"
  7. Click on the "Click here for advanced sending options" button
  8. CHECK "SMTP server requires authentication"
  9. CHECK "Use same settings as receiving mail server"
  10. Click on the close window button
  11. Click on the "OK" button

Macintosh : Eudora

  1. Click on the "Special" pull down menu
  2. Click on "Settings"
  3. Click on the "Checking Mail" icon
  4. Change "Username" to "your_username"
  5. Change "Mail Server" to "pop3.micro.com"
  6. Click on the "Sending Mail" icon
  7. Change "SMTP Server" to "smtp.micro.com"
  8. CHECK "Allow authorization"
  9. Click on the "OK" button
