Micro.Com Web Page Uploading: Downloading WS_FTP
| Previous: Introduction | Main Index | Next: Installing WS_FTP |
At this point WS_FTP must actually be downloaded from the Internet to your hard drive. Connect to the Internet and start your web browser.
|
In your web browser, go to the following location:
http://www.micro.com/ws_ftple.exe If you get a message saying that there are too many users on the site, and you can't login, just keep hitting Reload until it lets you in. |
A new window will now open, because your web browser will want to know where to
put the downloaded file. In this box you should select your Windows95 Desktop,
as shown at right. If you cannot choose your desktop because your Save As
window doesn't look like the one shown, simply choose C:\WINDOWS\DESKTOP - it's
the same thing. Click OK.
NOTE: Do not change the filename. It should still get saved as "ws_ftple.exe" no matter what subdirectory you put it in. |
As soon as you click OK, you'll see a box like the one shown at left that will
indicate the downloading progress. When the download is complete, the box will
disappear. There's nothing that can be done until the download is complete, so
just wait until it finishes.
|
Now that the download is done, close your browser by clicking on its
. Do
not disconnect from the Internet though - you'll need to be connected to upload
the files.
